Jewellery Box at Masterworks 26 May 2007
I have a new show at Masterworks Gallery, Ponsonby, Auckland from 30th May to 14th June
"Following on from the Tinder Box work and the subsequent Cultural Framework brooches, David has set his sights on the matchstick as a unit. Made from silver with rose and red gold heads, these he has assembled in a series of necklaces, brooches, earrings, and bracelets. These pieces celebrate the matchstick, which, despite the advent of the gas lighter, still continues to be used both as a fire starter but also as a material with which to create and express ourselves in a time honoured tradition"
